How You Can Improve Your Website Speed

Images, audio, flash, javascript and video is often the biggest pieces of content on a page. And the fact that they are loaded separately from the page itself also increases the total page load time. Reducing the number, size and quality of the images will have a positive impact on website speed.

The page itself might be very long and contain a lot of html code that you cannot see. Splitting long pages into seveal shorter ones will improve page load speed. Sometimes there's redundant HTML, CSS and Javascript code in the page sourcecode that you can remove to reduce the page size without removing actual content.

Using images, flash, counters, advertising and other componente that are loaded from OTHER domains thatn the webpage itself requries extra DNS lookups and slows page load time. Making a local copy, on your own server, of external images and banners may speed up page load times.

The website speed tool runs from the Linode datacenter in Dallas, TX, USA which means if you're site is fast you will get better load times for hosts located in Texas.
